About Me

City Council

I currently serve as president of the Issaquah City Council. This is my second term as President and my 6th year on the Council.

Professional

I earned my PH.D. in Cognitive Development, while working my way through college and graduate school. This hard work guided me through Harborview Medical Center, where for 15 years I worked with the City and County Councils, community, physicians, and staff to design and build the new hospital.

I served as the National Chair of Association of American Medical Colleges, Group on Institutional Planning, representing the senior leadership in all teaching hospitals.

Soon after moving to Issaquah in 1993, I was appointed to Issaquah's Planning Policy Commission (PPC). In 1998, after appointment to the City Council, I served as the first Chair of Council Major Development and Regional Affairs overseeing the Talus and Highlands Development Agreements.

In 2005, I had the privilege to be elected to serve on the City Council by a vote of the people. My peers recently unanimously elected me to my second term as Council President.

I am the Council's representative on Enterprise Seattle, Swedish Hospital Advisory Committee and have served on Eastside Transportation Partnership, Board of Eastside Fire and Rescue.
